Raymond Carrière

Raymond Carrière is the Founding Chairman of Communities in Bloom, a Canadian non profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation and the challenge of national competition.

Communities in Bloom has established itself as a valued national organization contributing to the improvement of the quality of life in our municipalities. From involving 29 municipalities in 1995, it has grown into a program that now involves hundreds of municipalities throughout Canada. Since 1999, the program has also involved municipalities from Britain in Bloom, Tidy Towns of Ireland, Villes et villages fleuris de France, America in Bloom and Japan in Bloom in the International Challenge.

Raymond Carrière has been active in the field of public green spaces management since 1975 at local, national and international levels. He completed a Masters in Public Administration (1989) after graduating in Business Administration from Ottawa University (1981) and he has a Diploma in ornamental horticulture (1974). His experience comprises park maintenance for the Town of Kirkland, the Saint-Laurent Borough of the City of Montréal, Québec, the National Capital Commission, the organization responsible for all green spaces in the national capital region and previous in landscape supervision. He is a member of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration.
